PG Diploma in Fire Safety

Students must have passed Bachelor’s degree in fire safety engineering or equivalent exam scoring a minimum of 50% aggregate marks with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Students must have qualified for the entrance examination conducted by the universities or institutions to pursue a course in Fire Safety Engineering.

There are 5 Fire Safety Tips. 1. Install Fire Alarms. Smoke alarms are the best early fire warning system. 2. Plan a Fire Escape Route. In the event of a fire, always have an escape plan in advance. 3. Keep Flames and Other Heating Equipment in Check. 4. Have a Fire Extinguisher. Utilize the Cliche Stop, Drop and Roll.

A fire needs three elements - heat, oxygen and fuel. Without heat, oxygen and fuel a fire will not start or spread. A key strategy to prevent fire is to remove one or more of heat, oxygen or fuel. The risk assessment should include detail on all three elements to minimize the risk of a fire starting/ spreading

Over time we have learned fundamental fire safety principles for preventing fire events and managing their impact (i.e. the Common Principles: Prevention, Detection and Communication, Occupant Protection, Containment and Extinguishment) that can be consistently applied internationally.
