The MA in Sociology program will cover four semesters and in the last semester, five courses will be offered alongside a dissertation. The programme is directed at addressing social exclusion drawing on the perspectives of class, caste and gender. Through a study of social institutions and the roles of the agencies, concerns around politics, technology, identity and work are addressed. There will be intense engagement with the theory and the methodology to understand the various social objects. There is also a programme on contemporary social worlds that offers a comparative perspective to gain insights into historical, economic, and cultural changes. They learn to deal with the different layers of the social realities.

Semester
Learning and Critical Thinking: Solve problems by critical thinking, discussing and analysing based on the courses learned by him/her.
Research and Development: Use the knowledge earned from different courses (by understanding the concepts and theories of sociology) and involve himself or herself in research and development effectively for the benefit of all.
Investigation, Interpretation and Evaluation: Interpret and evaluate the problems by getting involved in varied sources that include data collection, manuscripts, observations, books, journals, case studies of society and the internet etc.
Reporting: Report the findings of critical thinking observations, interpretation, understanding, evaluation and demonstration after effective documentation. Graphical representations such as pie diagrams, bar charts etc. make the report such which is easy for all readers.
Communication and Social Interaction: Communicate effectively (verbal and written) government Programmes and policies as well as social solutions based on case studies and data analysis with the society.
Universal Adaptability: Students can now be adaptive to any universal location to pursue social solutions.
Ethics: Students can now collect, represent and ethically interpret the social data.
Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of social changes
